Trine Rask & the Letters
»Rask håndskrivning« is a system for teaching handwriting before school, in school and after school. The system is under devellopment and will also contain a large typefamily.
Lejerbo is a custom made typeface in three weights. A display series to work with text set in Arial & it comes in Lejerbo Condensed, Lejerbo Condensed Bold & Lejerbo Bold. The three fonts have a standard alphabet and a row of alternative letters with discreet swashes.
The typeface »Karen« is an example of custom made type design. It is tailor made for this publication & based on the handwriting of Karen Blixen it emphasizes her presence in a number of quotes throughout the book.
»Den digitale bog« is an example of book design with the type family »Rum« widely in use. Rum Serif & Rum Sans is at display in many weights and variants of letters in both print and e-book.
Covergirl is a personal study of how to program a font to achieve a smoothly connected typeface. Font design is creating a piece of software & Covergirl is a font with many variations organised with OpenType-features. Font design like this demands great technical skills.
North is a typeface designed on the base of a study of book typefaces and the differences and similarities of text images of all languages using the latin alphabet. North is optimized for the Scandinavian languages, taking care of the frequency and combinations of letters to achieve a calm and not disturbing text image.
Bornholm is a rough type family made as a custom typeface for a movie, but now expanded and available for everyone :) Bornholm is a family of five: Bornholm Tejn, Bornholm Tejn Low, Bornholm Sandvig, Bornholm Allinge & Bornholm Dondal.
Rum Serif is a popular typeface and part of the larger type family Rum, available at the Type Foundry Village www.vllg.com. This typeface is a proof of how type design can balance letters and text, written stokes, modular shapes and contours. See also Rum Sans and Rum Plakat. Rum is a type family of 23 weights.
We are involved in restoration of lettering and revival of typefaces. Designing a typeface based on existing letters, extending a character set, maybe even adding decorative or characteristic elements can become a great tool and an alternative to lettering.
Brandts is a great example of a corporate typeface that plays an important role on different levels. The task was branding a new collaboration between three very different museums. Sharing the building they could also share a typeface, being able to use it differently.
